frequently asked questions

Q6: Can universities apply Full Economic Costing (FEC) to DTC proposals ?

A6: The decision on whether to apply FEC in a proposal is really down to the proposing university. The DTC presently has no particular guidance from MoD on this and our overall budget has not been increased to allow for FEC.

All we can look at is the actual cost to the DTC and whether the piece of work is consequently affordable within our budgetary constraints. The DTC operates to a fixed overall annual budget of £5M, so the rates charged to the DTC by universities are likely to be a discriminating factor in which packages we may ultimately be able to select for funding.
